Wednesday’s Words: Montezuma’s Castle Arizona
The past speaks if we would only listen. It has much to teach us and has tears and joys to share. Relics of the past invite us to marvel, to connect with the lives of others that we can never know, and to persevere. History encourages us to wonder what legacy we are leaving for the future we cannot know.
This apartment building, Montezuma’s Castle, is built into a steep limestone cliff face. It provided protection from enemies and floods. The desert is a harsh environment, but the Sinague culture thrived here, leaving this as a part of their enduring legacy. The site is a national park now.
