While scouting local sites for upcoming photo shoots (see Crouse Photography for more info), looking for great foliage, I found fungus treasure. It was a drizzly day, perfect for fall, plus it was raining acorns. No one else was out in the woods and all that I could hear were all of these acorns dropping – I should have worn a helmet. Among the rotting leaves that had fallen over countless seasons, and growing among the debris of rotting logs, I enjoyed a morning of photographing the variety of mushrooms and other fungi. As the remains of leaves and logs decay, new life is brought forth – colorful, varied, fancy and plain.
